Keyless BLE Employee Access
A BLE beacon access-control proof of concept using ESP32 scanning, Eddystone identifier checks, an LED relay simulation, and MQTT status messaging.
Explore a keyless access decision using a recognized BLE beacon and a connected hardware proof.
Built the ESP32 scanner, Eddystone identifier matching, relay and indicator workflow, and MQTT status reporting.
Connected access prototype
Explore the implementationI built Smart Unlock as a connected-access project at Scheidt & Bachmann. A phone beacon simulator and an ESP32 WROOM-32 scanner test a keyless access decision; a matched Eddystone identifier triggers the door-relay proof and publishes status through Mosquitto MQTT.
Connected access project at Scheidt & BachmannESP32 firmware scans nearby Eddystone advertisements and filters the expected beacon identifier.
The proof of concept compares detected UID or URL data before allowing the hardware response.
An LED represents the door-relay action so the access decision can be tested safely on the bench.
Mosquitto messaging publishes access events and prototype device status for remote observation.
A phone-side beacon simulator provides repeatable BLE advertisements for testing the scanner flow.
A phone beacon becomes a verified hardware action and a remotely observable access event.

A phone beacon simulator broadcasts an Eddystone identifier. The ESP32 scans and filters the advertisement, triggers an LED as the lock-relay proof, and publishes event or status messages to Mosquitto over MQTT.

Nearby advertisements must be scanned and filtered reliably before an access action is allowed.
An LED represents the lock relay so access decisions can be tested without driving a real door mechanism.
MQTT messages expose device and access status beyond the physical enclosure.

The ESP32 recognizes the expected Eddystone advertisement before triggering the hardware proof.
Mosquitto carries device and access events for remote observation.
The complete scanner, enclosure, indicator, and firmware flow was bench tested.
